This one-hour session is a great chance to learn about both Buddhist mindfulness techniques and the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course. The next taster session will be held on Saturday the 2nd of July, led by Bhante Rewatha Thero. The participants will have the chance to explore several mindfulness techniques including

• Mindfulness of Breathing meditation

• Body Scan

• Breathing Space

• Mindful Movement

These techniques can help with managing stress, anxiety, negative thoughts and difficult moments in your everyday life.  



Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a secular mindfulness training course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Professor of Medicine Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. This course helps people deal with pain, stress, physiological problems and a range of issues by being mindful in everyday life. 

Our 8-week MBSR course helps the participants learn a range of mindfulness techniques including

• Mindfulness of the breath

• Awareness of the body

• Movement exercises, and the application of Mindfulness into everyday life.

Learning outcomes of the 8-week MBSR course can include

• The skill of paying non-judgemental attention to what goes on in the present moment in your body, mind, and the surroundings.

• Shifting perspectives and seeing things in a new way that is more helpful to you and those around you.

• Improved self-confidence and ability to face life challenges

• Improved self-care and relationships with others

• Improved creativity and problem solving skills

• An improved capacity to manage stress

• A calmer outlook in daily life

• A sense of improved physical, emotional and psychological well being


The course is taught over eight 2-hour sessions at weekly intervals including an additional all-day session.

All our courses at the Cambridge Mindfulness Centre take place in very small groups. The maximum number of participants is 08.

In addition to attending the course participants should be aware that home practice is also an important part of the course, and time should be set aside each day to practice Mindfulness. This can be integrated into daily routines quite simply e.g. several times throughout the day take 5 Mindful breaths. Approach an activity mindfully e.g. brushing your teeth, eating a meal.

After the end of the 8-week MBSR course, the participants have the opportunity of joining the on-going drop in practice sessions which give chance to maintain their mindfulness practice in a group stetting with the support of a teacher.


Friday live on-line practice group (free)

Anyone can join the Friday live practise group through this website. This session is led by Bhante Rewatha Thero and telecast from the Scottish Mindfulness Centre. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about mindfulness and meditation techniques, as well as to ask questions from an experienced teacher. This weekly event will include teaching by Bhante Rewatha Thero and a meditation and discussion session. 


A mindfulness workshop is a great introduction to mindfulness and the mindfulness based approaches (MBSR and MBCT) as taught and designed by Prof. Jon Kabat-Zinn. It will also teach how mindfulness can be used in healthcare and education.

You will have the opportunity to experience all the different mindfulness meditation techniques that are used in the mindfulness courses:

• Mindfulness of the breath

• Body Scan meditation

• Loving Kindness / Compassion meditation

• Mindful body movements (including Mindful Walking outside if weather permits)


If you are considering attending the 8-week MBSR or MBCT course, with the intention of personal or professional development, this workshop is a great introduction to the course contents.

Our mindfulness workshops are held on selected Saturdays or Sundays from 9 am to 12 pm. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

The retreats are for people who have completed the 8-week MBSR course, have attended a workshop or already have some mindfulness experience.

A retreat is an opportunity to focus on deepening our experience of a particular practice in an environment with reduced distractions. You will guided through the four foundations of mindfulness in a silent and supportive environment and have the opportunity to really experience the peacefulness that mindfulness can bring.

Please wear loose clothes so that you will be comfortable to sit, lie down and perform simple yoga and exercises. 


We can provide workshops of mindfulness for the benefit of your workforce at your own workplace.  Mindfulness can help you and your employees by reducing their stress, increasing their happiness, which result in a considerable improvement of the work efficiency.

Vipassana is a Buddhist meditation practice that has been used for over 2500 years to gain insight to the reality of the world by understanding the impermanence of everything, to enhance the wisdom and to eliminate one's own suffering. Vipassana practice teaches how to observe thoughts and emotions as they rise, continue and fade away, and trains the mind to react in a skilful way by gradually eliminating attachment and anger. The insight gained by the continued practice makes one enlightened about their own self and the outside world resulting in the ultimate freedom from suffering.

Vipassana Level One course teaches 16 techniques of mindfulness during the 4 week course.  The course highlights how the breathing practice brings a deeper awareness and mindfulness of the body, thoughts, feelings and mental phenomena to deal with everyday phenomena.  

Level Two course is only for those who have completed Vipassana Level One and the Level Three course is only for those who have completed Vipassana Level Two.Practitioners are invited to practice standing or floor Yoga before Vipassana sessions. Time will also be set aside for discussions after each session.



This is a 6-week course that teaches mindfulness of the body using basic yoga movements. Yoga has traditionally been used as an effective method of enhancing physical and mental well-being. The course also provides the participants with the knowledge basic methods of Ayurveda  self-care to help enhance their health.


On-line Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course (8 weeks)

This is an 8-week course which can be scheduled according to your convenience in a one-to-one or a group setting. Bhante Rewatha Thero will provide teaching via Skype and the course material (CD and booklets) will also be posted to you. 

The course content is same as our regular Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course.

The course consists of eight 2-hour sessions at weekly intervals. The course fee is £ 200, which can be also be paid in weekly instalments.
